11. Hanwell to Greenford

p175  Getting Started
The stile referred to in the text has apparently now gone.

p.175 From Hanwell to Greenford Bridge
ROUTE:
The configuration of paths seems to have changed somewhat since publication. Des de Moor, who has recently walked the route, suggests the following as an improved description from Bullet point 5:
  •  Cross the bridge and turn immediately right alongside the river bank on a well-defined sandy track which soon drifts away from the riverside and through trees.
  • At the next path junction, follow the main sandy track left then right, passing the golf course.
  • After passing through a patch of woodland, branch right to reach a footbridge.
  • Cross it and turn immediately left along the broad sandy path again. This soon climbs slightly to follow a line of trees on a low ridge parallel to the river.
  • Continue on the path which eventually descends to run between the river and a sports pitch, to reach the road beside Greenford Bridge.
FACILITIES:
Entrance to the Hanwell Zoo is no longer free

Also, and perhaps rather inevitably in the current climate, Hanwell Zoo now charges admission.
